Most AI systems today are assembled as thin layers around large language models. Retrieval pipelines, agent workflows, and prompt orchestration have accelerated capability across the industry, but the underlying pattern remains the same: a model, some tools, a memory store, and a workflow engine held together by loosely governed runtime behavior.
